Children & Youth @ Wilson Christian Church

Jesus said ‘Let the Little Children come to me and do not hinder them’ (Mark 10:14)

At Connect Christian Church we recognise the value of children and their importance in God’s sight.  We know that they are never too young to learn about God or to serve him appropriately.

Therefore, in line with our mission as a church it is our desire to see children connected to Jesus, to His church and His mission.

 Connecting to Jesus:

Children in our church are encouraged to explore what it means to be connected to Jesus. They are welcome to participate in our time of worship, however during the message a Sunday School program operates for children from Kindy to Yr 5 during the school term. At this time they study a passage of Scripture, ask questions, answer questions and pray together. Here children are able to explore the text in a more interactive manner, and hopefully grow in their understanding of what it means in their own life.

 Connecting to His church:

By being part of the worship service we understand children are infact connecting with God, like adults do. With his church together as a community of believers young and old, we bring praises to him, and grow in fellowship together.  The Bible teaches that the covenant community and especially parents have the primary responsibility for raising children. We hope that then families and others are able to talk with children about what they are learning at church in their homes. We understand that very young children can be restless so to help parents to concentrate during the service we have a creche available for younger children.

 Connecting with His Mission:

We encourage children to understand that the goal of following Jesus is not only to experience salvation or fellowship with his people, but to become a disciple making disciple.  They have opportunities to serve the community in the small ways that they can, such as praying for and befriending others, giving to mission projects, and helping with tasks adults in the community are busy with.

We are also passionate about the safety of children therefore all of the Sunday School teachers, helpers and creche supervisors have current working with children checks and are train to comply with ChildSafe standards.
